Review: Weber Smokey Joe Gold Charcoal Grill

As previously posted, I am currently living away from my family while on a long term job assignment.  One of the first things I did when I moved into my apartment was look for a portable grill.  After looking at several options, I ended up buying the Weber Smokey Joe Gold Charcoal Grill.  I have now been using it for several weeks (though I have not always been very good about posting each time I used it) and I believe I know enough to give it a proper review.

This is the first portable grill I have purchased, but I have to say this grill has been perfect for me.  I bought this grill at a very reasonable price, and it has not disappointed me at all. The cooking surface has been more than adequate, even when I cooked a fairly large pizza.  It is small enough to be very portable though, and I can envision taking this to tailgate in the fall.  I really like that the handle can lock the lid to the grill making it very easy to carry.  The grate is easy to clean.  In fact, I was even able to throw the grate into the dishwasher to give it a thorough cleaning one time.

The only negative comment I have is it is fairly low profile.  I am using it on a patio at an apartment so it requires me to bend over fairly far.  A sturdy, non-flammable table, would solve this problem though.

I bought this grill largely because I have had very positive experiences with other Weber products and this does not disappoint.  I highly recommend this grill for anyone looking for a portable grilling for tailgating or like me as a second grill for extended traveling.
